ChemInform Abstract

Two alternative routes for the synthesis of the title pyridine-2-thiolate (IV), a three-component reaction and a recyclization reaction, are given. The pyridine-2-thiolate (IV) reacts with alkyl halides at the thiole unit to afford the alkylthio derivatives (VII) which can be cyclized in alkaline solution to the thienopyridines (VIII).
