ChemInform Abstract

A comparison, based on CaO and CaCO3, (instability of SrO, BaO in air) between the measured values of the enthalpy changes of the reactions CaO(s, 298 K) + WO3(s, 298 K) = CaWO4(s, 1473 K) and CaCO3(s, 298 K) + WO3(s, 298 K) = CaWO4(s, 1473 K) + CO2(g,1473 K) is given. Enthalpy change values, ΔH = 13.97 and 9.34 kJ/mol, resp., are similar when the reaction with CaCO3 is carried out in the presence of alumina spheres.
