ChemInform Abstract
Title compound (IV), a useful reagent in organic synthesis and a precursor of analgesic compounds, is prepared in a two-step procedure from phenylglycinol. The second method is the previously reported one-pot procedure starting from enantiomerically pure styrene oxide. Both methods proceed via nucleophilic ring opening of an intermediate aziridinium ion and provide the shortest synthetic routes towards the title compounds.
