ChemInform Abstract

Base-free Li-compound (II), prepared by an optimized trivial method, is used to synthesize metallanes (III). It reacts with one equivalent of AlCl3 to give metallate (IV), but reaction with one equivalent of GaCl3 yields an unusual sesquichloride, determined as associate (Tms) 3C-Ga(Cl)Me/(Tms)3C-GaCl2 (2:1) with a Ga3Cl3-skeleton in chair conformation by X-ray structure determination.
