ChemInform Abstract

Mechanical alloying of mixed Mg and Ni powders for 160 and 200 h followed by heating 20 h under vacuum at 300 °C yields pure Mg2Ni phases. Several ternary Mg2Ni1-xM alloys such as Mg2Ni0.7Co0.3 are prepared under similar conditions. These alloys are shown to represent Mg2Ni1-xMx + M mixtures containing iron impurities.
