ChemInform Abstract

Light green, transparent single crystals of the title compound are obtained by reaction of Pr with Pr6O11, S8, SiO2, and NaCl at 850 . degree.C (7 d). Characterization by single-crystals XRD shows that NaPr9S2(SiO4)6 (hexagonal, P63/m, Z = 1) adopts a “modified” bromoapatite, Ca5Br(PO4)3-type structure with (SiO4)4- and S2- anions in 8- and 9-fold coordination.
