ChemInform Abstract

The structure of single crystals of K2(IrCl5(NH3)), prepared by reaction of (IrCl6)3- with NH4OAc in aqueous medium, is determined by single crystal XRD. The complex anion of the compound (orthorhombic, Pnma, Z = 4, (RhCl(NH3)5)Cl2 structure type) exhibits Cs point symmetry. According to the molecular parameters, the room temperature, IR and Raman spectra are assigned by normal coordinate analysis. Valence force constants fd(NH) = 588, fd(IrN) = 2.66, and fd(IrCl) = 1. 68 mdyn/Å are calculated.
