ChemInform Abstract

The title compound (IX) is prepared from (I) with an overall yield of 11%. This approach is compared with an alternative and longer synthesis of (IX) with an overall yield of 4.3% using chiral building blocks derived from D-arabinose and from enzymatic reduction of oct-7- yn-2-one with Thermoanaerobium brockii alcoholdehydrogenase.
