ChemInform Abstract

Depending on the solvent polarity and coordinating ability, the title reaction leads to 3-alkylcycloalkenones and bis-adducts. Addition of phenylmagnesium bromide gives 3-phenyl substituted cycloalkenones without regard to the solvent. Alkylmagnesium halides in CH2Cl2 give mixtures of the products. Only in THF the 3-alkylcycloalkenones are solely formed.
