Oxazolopyrimidinium and -triazinium chlorides (I) in the presence of nucleophiles (II) undergo an O-C bond cleavage of the oxazole ring yielding 2-substituted-ethyl derivatives (III). Oxazolotriazine (IV) behaves similarly towards nucleophiles.
