ChemInform Abstract

A facile route to axially chiral biisoquinolines such as (VII) involving Ni(0)-mediated homocoupling of 1-chloroisoquinolines (cf. ( VI)) as the synthetic key step is described. The racemic product is resolved by HPLC on a chiral column on a preparative scale.
