ChemInform Abstract

Acid hydrolysis of nitilotriacetonitrile provides smoothly nitrolotriacetamide (II), which cyclizes to piperazineacetamide (III) on prolonged heating. Compound (II) slowly and cleanly converts to piperazineacetic acid (IV) in D2O.
