ChemInform Abstract

The Pauson-Khand cyclization of the cobalt alkyne complexes (I) and ethylene (II) is efficiently promoted by trimethylamine N-oxide. The yields are considerably higher than under the reported optimal thermal conditions. The methodology can also be used for the preparation of the taylorione precursor (V).
