ChemInform Abstract

The ZnBr2-catalyzed intramolecular cycloaddition of isoperezone (I) provides the tetracycle (II) named β-isopipitzol along with perizinone (III) and dihydroisoperizinone (IV). The transformation of ( I) into (II) constitutes a rare example of a (4 + 2) intramolecular cycloaddition through a 2-substituted cyclopentadienyl cation.
