ChemInform Abstract

Twenty-three substituted thiouracils and their monocyclic and bicyclic derivatives are prepared by standard procedures and evaluated for in vivo leishmanicidal activity. Among compounds of various prototypes, only the thiouracils (Ia), (Ic) and the mono-benzylated derivatives ( II) display maximum 80-85% of inhibition. Like other antileishmanial drugs all the active compounds do not show any dose-response relationship.
