ChemInform Abstract

The Knoevenagel condensation of aldehydes (I) with activated methylene compounds (II) is remarkably enhanced by the presence of heterogenous phosphate catalysts. With both Na3PO4 and natural phosphate (mainly fluorapatit from Khoribga, Maroc) the yields are excellent and the reactions are complete within a very short time (1-30 min).
