ChemInform Abstract
The immediate precursor of the title compound (XI) is obtained as a mixture of pyranose and furanose anomers (IX) and (X). The de novo synthesis of N-methylfucosamine, a fragment of neocarzinostatin, from the O′Donnell′s Schiff base (I) in 13% overall yield is more efficient than a previous one and begins with readily available starting materials.
