ChemInform Abstract

Dielectric constants, .epsilon.11 and .epsilon.33 of GaPO4 samples of different OH content are measured over the frequency range 1 kHz to 1 MHz and the temp. range -150 to +120 °C. Real permittivity is nearly constant below room temp. and becomes dependent on temp., frequency and impurity (mainly OH-groups) above room temperature. Both dielectric constant and dielectric loss are proportional to the impurity content. At 20 °C and 5 kHz, dielectric permittivities, .epsilon.′T 11 and .epsilon.′T 33 of 6.2 and 6.6, resp., are measured. The permittivity behavior of GaPO4 is more similar to that of homeotypic quartz than to that of isomorphous berlinite (α-AlPO4) .
