ChemInform Abstract

Orange crystals of the title compound (IV) are prepared in 60% yield. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca with Z = 8. The S2- 7 anion chains show the typical mixed trans-cis-trans conformation with a sequence of the signs of torsion angles ++-- and -- ++ as known from other polysulfides such as the heptasulfide anions in (PPh4)(NH4)S7×MeCN and (H2N(C6H11)2)2S7.
