ChemInform Abstract

Reaction of hindered steroidal alcohols such as (I) with allyl ethyl carbonate (II) in the presence of a palladium complex leads to the formation of the corresponding allyl carbonate, e.g. (III), in high yield without loss of CO2. The expected allyl ether (IV) is obtained in moderate yields by variation of the reaction conditions.
