The title compounds (III) represent the first examples of monomeric digallylphosphanes and -arsanes structurally characterized by X-ray analysis and variable-temp. 1H and 31P NMR spectra. (IIIa) crystallizes in the space group P21/c with Z = 4 and (IIIb) in P1 with Z = 2.
