The conversion of the 2-hydroxyacetophenones (I) to their BF2-- complexes, followed by treatment with the phosgeniminium chlorides (II) and hydrolysis of the intermediate β-chloro vinylogous amide - BF2--complex produces the 2-aminochromones (III).
