ChemInform Abstract

The indolones (I) are coupled with the DMF acetal (II) to give the dimethylaminomethylene compounds (III). In contrast, reaction of (I) with the dimethylacetamid acetal (VI) results in the predominant or exclusive formation of the α-ethoxyethylideneindolones (VII). The dimethylaminomethyleneindolones (III) are converted to the derivatives (V), (X), and (XII) by common methods.
