ChemInform Abstract

Oxidation of Zn and Mg complexes of tetraarylporphyrins gives radical cations which are investigated by ESR, UV/VIS and IR spectroscopy. The results indicate that in oxidized phenyl-substituted tetraarylporphyrins the magnetic orbital can be an A2u as well as an A1u orbital depending on the properties of the substituents.
