ChemInform Abstract

The title compound (II) is synthesized by photolysis of the adenosine derivative (I) and independently by nucleobase-anion glycosylation of the imidazole carbonitrile (III) with the halogenose (IV). The latter reaction is stereoselective but regioisomers ((II), (V)) are formed Their structures are assigned on the basis of spectroscopic data.
