ChemInform Abstract

Successive reaction of the naphthyloxazoline (I) with the vinylstannane (II) and the chloroethyldioxolane (III) forms diastereospecifically the dialkylation product (+)-(IV). The latter is converted to the ring system (-)-(VII), a precursor of the tetracyclic terpene skeletons (-)-(VIII) and (-)-(IX) mentioned in the title.
