ChemInform Abstract

The title compound SeSCl2 is obtained from the reaction of a mixture of S2Cl2 and Se2Cl2 at 21 °C. This species reacts with titanocene pentasulfide as well as with KI to give a variety of cyclic selenium sulfides. SCl2 and Se2Cl2 react quantitatively to yield SeCl4 and S2Cl2.
