Treatment of the bissulfonylbenzoquinonediimines (I) with dimethyl phosphite gives the bissulfonylaminobenzenes (II). In contrast, reaction of (Ia) with dipentyl trimethylsilyl phosphite (III) leads to the formation of the phosphoramidate (IV). (Further examples in the original paper).
