Abstract

The reaction of the title complex (I) with 3H-indoles (II) or (V) conducted in sunlight or under irradiation from a Hg lamp in both cases gives the same mixture of products besides unchanged starting material (mechanism).

ChemInform Abstract

The reaction of the title complex (I) with 3H-indoles (II) or (V) conducted in sunlight or under irradiation from a Hg lamp in both cases gives the same mixture of products besides unchanged starting material (mechanism). In the presence of the Lewis acid ZnCl2, complexed to the indole, the formation of derivatives (VI), or (III), is completely inhibited. (VII) is characterized by X-ray diffraction (space group P21/n, Z=4).
