ChemInform Abstract

Some pyrimidines (25 examples) are prepared in order to test their biological activities. Title compounds such as (III) ((IIIa): space group P21/n with Z=4) and (V) are formed by an intramolecular reaction, whereas under these conditions, the derivative (VI) affords a stabilized carbodiimide to which alcohols or amines are added yielding (VIII). However, with phenyl esters of (VI) the intramolecular migration of phenoxide is clearly favored. The reaction of derivatives (IX) with carboxylates such as (X) results in 1-addition and Aza-Wittig annulation to give products such as (XI).
