ChemInform Abstract

Thermolysis of the O-thionocarbamate derivatives (III), obtained by reaction of the morphinans (I) with N,N-dimethylthiocarbamoyl chloride (II), results in rearrangement, forming the corresponding thiolocarbamates (IV). Reduction of (IV) followed by acylation gives the acylthiomorphinans (VI). By the same procedures, 9-aza-17-carbamorphinan (VII) is converted into the S-containing morphinans (IX) and (X). Thermal rearrangements of the O-thiocarbamates derived from morphine and dihydromorphine are not successful. The analgetic activities of the S-containing morphinans are lower than that of pentazocine.
