ChemInform Abstract

is studied for the first time. The stoichiometry of the reaction is in accordance with the equation shown in the scheme. The reaction follows a complex rate law. The reaction orders are ∼1.2 in (Mn3+), ∼1.0 in (As3+)/(Sb3+), -0.8 in (H+) and -0.3 in (Mn2+). Mn3+ and MnOH+ are shown to be the active species in the oxidation reaction. In contrast to the reaction product Mn2+, As(V)/Sb(V) does not influence the reaction.
