Abstract
Oxidative cyclocondensation of the chalcones (I) upon treatment with SeO2 affords the chromones (II).

Oxidative cyclocondensation of the chalcones (I) upon treatment with SeO2 affords the chromones (II). Biological screening shows that the compounds (II) are not active against Penicillium notatum.
