ChemInform Abstract
Chelating of the Grignard reagents (I) with the amine (II) leads to the solid complexes (III). The preparation of such complexes is general; the solids are stable under nitrogen and can be titrated and used as Grignard reagents, although the reaction rates are somewhat decreased. Interestingly, the reactions with aldehydes or ketones such as (IV) can be performed in hydrocarbon solvents.
