Abstract

Dynamics and products in the epoxidation of norbornene, cis-cyclooctene and cyclohexene by tetrakis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)porphinatomanganese(III) chloride using ClO- as the oxygen-transfer agent are described.

ChemInform Abstract

Dynamics and products in the epoxidation of norbornene, cis-cyclooctene and cyclohexene by tetrakis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)porphinatomanganese(III) chloride using ClO- as the oxygen-transfer agent are described. The reactions are studied spectrophotometrically in wet CH2Cl2 solution prepared by mixing solutions A, containing the Mn complex, 4'-imidazol-1-ylacetophenone as a ligating agent and the alkene, and solutions B, containing ClO- and benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium chloride.
