ChemInform Abstract

The liquid-solid equilibria diagram of the binary InF₃-BaF2 system is determined by DTA. The following ternary phases are identified: BaInF₅ (isostructural with SrFeF₅, P2₁/c, Z = 8; peritectic decomposition at 740 °C), dimorphic Ba₃In₂F₁₂ (low-temp. α-modification: P4/mbm, Z=2, decomposition at 730 °C to β-Ba3In2F12 and BaInF₅; β-modification: tetragonal, I41, Z=24), and a cubic phase formulated as Ba1-xInxFe2+x. The 540 °C isothermal section of the phase diagram of the ternary title system contains only one quaternary compound, BaCuInF₇ (tetragonal, I41/amd, Z=4).
