Abstract

The photochemical deconjugation of the title compound (I) which leads to the products (II)-(IV) is compared with the triplet state ring closure yielding the cyclopentane derivative (V).

The photochemical deconjugation of the title compound (I) which leads to the products (II)-(IV) is compared with the triplet state ring closure yielding the cyclopentane derivative (V). A kinetic expression for the formation of (V) versus (II)-(IV) is derived based on the ratio of quantum yields.
