Abstract

The benzylidene-1,3-diselenole (III) is converted into the nitroso (I) and phenylazo derivative (V).

ChemInform Abstract

The benzylidene-1,3-diselenole (III) is converted into the nitroso (I) and phenylazo derivative (V). In contrast, the parent methylenediselenole (VII) does not undergo analogous reactions. (VII) is reduced using sodium cyanoborohydride to give the diselenole (VI). (IX) is obtained from (VII) and phenylselenenyl chloride (VIII). Further reactions are described in the original paper.
