Abstract

The α-halocarboxylic acid derivatives (I) undergo cyclocondensation with the thioamides (II) in the presence of the silyl chloride (III) and a base, forming the 4-siloxythiazoles (IV).

The α-halocarboxylic acid derivatives (I) undergo cyclocondensation with the thioamides (II) in the presence of the silyl chloride (III) and a base, forming the 4-siloxythiazoles (IV). Heating of (IVa) or (IVb) with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate (V) produces the 2-siloxypyridines (VI) which are desilylated to give (VII).
