ChemInform Abstract

To study the intramolecular C-H insertion of cyclopropylidenes, various gem-dibromocyclopropane acetals such as (I), (IV) or (VIII) are treated with MeLi. Main products are the monobromide (II), the insertion products (V) or (IX) and the allenes (III), (VI) or (X). Except for (V), most of the products are isolated as diastereomeric mixtures; the unidentified product mixtures (VII) and (XI) mainly include monobromides.
