The silyl and stannyl substituted pyrimidines (III) and (V) are prepared from the pyrimidines (I) or (IV) by halogen-lithium or hydrogen-lithium exchange reactions and subsequent coupling of the organolithium intermediates with the desired chlorosilanes or chlorostannanes (II).
