Abstract

The phosphaethenes (II), generated by retro-Diels-Alder cleavage of the phosphabicyclooctadienes (I), are trapped with the dienes (III) or (IX) or the isobenzofuran (XII) to produce the adducts (IV) and (V), (X), or (XIII) which are characterized as the corresponding methoiodides.
