ChemInform Abstract

The intramolecular Diels-Alder cycloadditions of (II), (V) or (VII) occur readily in high yield (numerical values not given). The new complexes (III) and (VI), containing chiral bidentate ligands, are characterized by IR and 31P(1H) NMR spectroscopy and in the case of (VI) (space group P21/n, Z=4) by X-ray crystallography. These data reveal that the reactions are highly stereoselective, forminga racemic mixture of a single diastereomer. Complex (IIIb) contains the first reported example of a 7-phosphabicyclo(2.2.1)hept-5-ene-2-sulfoxide.
