Abstract

Diazotization of 9-(aminomethyl)triptycene (Ia) results in methylene insertion to give the bridgehead alcohol derivatives (II).

ChemInform Abstract

Diazotization of 9-(aminomethyl)triptycene (Ia) results in methylene insertion to give the bridgehead alcohol derivatives (II). 1,4-Dimethyl-9-(aminomethyl)triptycene (Ib), prepared from anthracene-9-carboxyaldehyde (III), is diazotized to yield the products (VII) - (X).
