Abstract

The (het)aryl or tert-butyl methyl ketones (I) are converted to the corresponding trimethylsilyl enol ethers (III).

ChemInform Abstract

The (het)aryl or tert-butyl methyl ketones (I) are converted to the corresponding trimethylsilyl enol ethers (III). These are treated with lead tetraacetate in excess of the alcohols (IV), yielding the alkoxymethyl ketones (V) as the main products, together with minor amounts of the acetoxy derivatives (VI). (Intermediates).
