Abstract

The tetrakis(thioether) (I) is cleaved with sodium and then allowed to react with phosgene (II), producing the tetrathiaindacenedione (III) mentioned in the title.

ChemInform Abstract

The tetrakis(thioether) (I) is cleaved with sodium and then allowed to react with phosgene (II), producing the tetrathiaindacenedione (III) mentioned in the title. This is treated with a base to give the salt (IV). Rection of (IV) with methyl iodide (Va), 1,2-dibromoethane (Vb) or thiophosgene (Vc) yields the bis(thioethers) (VI) which form the nickel complexes (VII).
