ChemInform Abstract

The air-stable title compound (IV) with a planar TiS2Si ring is prepared as shown and characterized by an X-ray structure analysis (space group Pnma, Z=4). The relative reactivity of the Ti-S and Si-S bonds is investigated. The reactions of (IV) with (VI) giving the products (I) and (VII) show that the Ti-S bonds are more labile than the Si-S bonds. Its reactivity toward nucleophilic oxometallates as shown in the scheme provides that (IV) can function as an efficient, non-reductive S atom transfer agent.
