Abstract

The oxazoles (I) are treated consecutively with BuLi and trimethylsilyl chloride (II) to give the silylated oxazoles (III), together with minor amounts of the ring-opened products (IV).

The oxazoles (I) are treated consecutively with BuLi and trimethylsilyl chloride (II) to give the silylated oxazoles (III), together with minor amounts of the ring-opened products (IV). Coupling of the activated oxazoles (IIIa) and (IIIb) with carbonyl compounds such as the aldehydes (V), the acid chlorides (VII) or the ketenes (IX) produces the alcohols (VI) and the carbonyl compounds (VIII) or (X).
