ChemInform Abstract

Since 5(6)-substituted benzimidazole-2-carbamates have been reported to possess excellent antifilarial activity, type (V) which has novel substituents at the 5(6)-position is synthesized. Pharmacological tests reveal that (Va), (Vb) and (Vd) exhibit positive antifilarial effects. Of these, (Va) is found to be the most active compound, whereas (Vd) is toxic to the host. All other (V) are inactive.
