Abstract

The reactivities of the silicon-allyl bonds in the penta-coordinated silicon compounds (I) and (II) are compared.

ChemInform Abstract

The reactivities of the silicon-allyl bonds in the penta-coordinated silicon compounds (I) and (II) are compared. The allyl transfer to the carbonyl compounds (III), yielding the homoallylic alcohols (IV), requires nucleophilic conditions in the case of (I), while (II) reacts similarly under electrophilic conditions. (IIIc) and (II) form 1-allylcyclohexene (V) as the main product due to dehydration of the alcohol (IVc).
